    ha, perhaps we could rip it up around here, funnily enough i have seen nick cave around, never had the courage to say hello though, after all i do worship him as my name gives away but we probably wouldn't get along.

    With regards to the fall i think it was a dangerous move for them to sign to domino records (home of franz ferdinand,oh dear)

    moving on, the ugg boots sale comment is extremely profound, they're right i do need thoses shoes for the future, primarily as a doorstop.

    just a quick question, how many fall albums do you own stephen? i hope all of them, i've got all the studio albums but i've avoided some of the poor quality live and bootlegs.

    maybe one day you'll do a podcast for poor old mark E. i would suggest 'Hex Enduction hour' or 'Dragnet' the fall's two best albums.

    anyway good luck to youself and gary with the rap albums i shall track them down in time for your next transmission.

    There is an independant record shop near me called 'uptight records' they deal in rare and collectable funk,soul...and jazz stephen!!!!

    i saw mile davis' 'Tutu' on vinyl for a fiver which i believe is an eighties album is that right stephen? and being a davis fan but having not heard it is it worth listening to? this was when davis was on the cusp of working with rap and RnB artists so i'm guessing this would have influenced his own work, successfully i would have thought this is davis after all.

    Strangely i've been listening to belle and sebastian as well, 'tigermilk' specifically, 'electronic renaissance' is my favourite track lovely stuff.

    I've also got some more songs named after cities:
    'LA' by elliot smith from 'figure 8'
    'Tupelo' by nick cave from 'the firstborn is dead'
    'redondo beach' by patti smith from 'horses'
    'sheffield sex city' by pulp, b-side to 'babies' single.
    And finally i suppose this counts 'coney island baby' by tom waits from 'blood money'

    Hey guys, can't wait to see how you get on with some 'gangsta' rap. I got NWA's legacy album, kinda greatest hits thing when I was 12 or something but its not really an area of music I have much to do with anymore. I still like a lot of rap but of the slightly less aggressive variety such as Sage Francis who's well worth looking up, his 'Personal Journals' album being a cracker.

    On a Nick Cave related note I recently came across a really great animation narrated by the man himself called 'The Cat's Piano' which is something to track down for everyone and particularly the Nick fans among us.

    I got a few Fall albums a little while ago and have been gradually easing myself in and I definitely think I'm going to become a fan, just waiting for the right moment for it to take me. I'm thinking maybe once I move back to uni to give my house mates another reason to question my mental health.

    Stephen, did you know that Patio, Tatay and Bwyd Time are available on iTunes? I expect you probably did but was re-listening to an old podscast the other day (what else to do now I've finally caught up?) and heard you lamenting the loss of the early albums. My poor Google skills don't turn up any information on whether it's old or new news!

    Another reason for listening to the old podcasts was to see if I could find a recommendation you made for Tindersticks fans - there was an album you said they'd love (some time in the last 6 months!) and I haven't found it yet! Any suggestions for a birthday present for a devoted 'sticks fan?

    Has anybody heard the new muse album?
    just wanted to know whether it's as much of a revolution as everybody is saying it is.

    I've heard it and all i can say is most of it isn't to quote Q 'ambitious' in fact 70% of this album sounds like muse.

    But.. the 'exogenesis symphony' is really accomplished and does completely overshadow the rest of the album.

    oh and some of the tracks have awful names with the kind of pretentious and unfunny wordplay i would expect of phil collins.

    Who can forget 'hello, i must be going'(incidentally that album must be in the shortlist for worst album ever conceived, written, composed, mixed released, reviewed, bought, listened to and thrown away.)

    so i leave you with the story of how i came to dislike the muse album.

    It's midnight, friday post derren brown's sofa antics you decide the muse album's trial is due.

    Just imagine halfway through listening to the album you just reach over to the drawer to see which track your listening to, you work your way through CD after CD til you reach 'The Resistance' by muse.

    Laying back in your chair you pour yourself some whiskey and light up a cigarette, content you found the CD with minimum hassle you bring both the whiskey and the CD to your face, you turn the CD over to check the tracklisting just before you begin to take a sip.

    Suddenly your jaw drops, the cigarette once gracefully perched in your mouth, plummets into your whiskey glass, the stereo suddenly changes from pleasant to sinister.

    Your ears begin to bleed and you start to cringe, as you realize that you will now and forever hate muse for subjecting you to songs named:
    'United states of eurasia' and ...'Unnatural selection'
    in all seriousness it's alright.
